Leaving on a Long Ass Jetplane

hello, all. i did it, or at least did most of it. i have officially packed!! the suitcase is zipped and of course a bit overweight but those things will be dealt with today. i am proud to say that my carry ons have plenty of room so a little transferring will bode just fine. just think of it this way, the suitcase can only get lighter as hanes t-shirts become disposable, i lose something and the toiletries, advil and emergen-c dwindle down. as usual, i probably packed too much so today i shall really weed out the non-essentials. i have to remember to leave room for all the crap im bound to buy once ive left!!

i leave for LA tomorrow morning and am quite excited. i love my LA family and cannot wait to get in 5 days with them. it will also be a good break between long flights. people who go from the east coast to fiji in a single travel swoop must really like to fly. i also believe that while in LA i will find the perfect beach hat that i have been searching for that wont make my dad go crazy due to price. obviously, during the winter in maryland stores are not oozing with cheapish floppy straw hats. if worse comes to worst, i will buy a pricey one and blame dr. isaacs. the dermatologist was freaking out about this trip and how many more sun marks i will probably develop so i can blame her for my need to buy a wide brimmed floppy hat that protects both the front and back of my head and neck from those treacherous uv rays.

so i guess that is all i have for today. the next time you hear from me i will hopefully be on dry ground in fiji. for those of you who arent up to date with fijian news, there are many floods going on right on the island i am meant to land and spend my time on. some places dont have power but the airport is operating. this would happen the one time i probably ever go to fiji. woe is me. i figure that things can only get better and the island of viti levu has 8 days to get their act together before my arrival (the flight to fiji crosses the date line so when i leave on the evening of the 21 i dont arrive until wayyyy early the morning of the 23). keep your fingers crossed.
